DPHS Welcomes New CEO, Beth Merchent

After 15 years of service to Daily Planet, Peter Prizzio has announced his retirement as our CEO. Under Peter’s exemplary leadership and vision, Daily Planet Health Services has seen substantial growth in our budget, staff and patients. Although he will be greatly missed, we are very happy for him, as he looks forward to some warm weather travel.

We’re excited to welcome Beth Merchent as our new CEO. She was unanimously selected by our Board, after an extensive national search, and will join us on May 1. Ms. Merchent brings years of health systems management experience and a proven record of delivering community health programs. She brings exactly the combination of experience and passion we were seeking.

Beth is currently the Vice President of Community Health Services at Bon Secours in Richmond, where she advanced the strategic vision and day-to-day operations for community health initiatives across the region. In the past, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer and carries that passion for bringing care to underserved populations. She holds a Master in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Richmond.

While in her role at Bon Secours, we have had an opportunity to work together in support of St. Joseph’s Outreach Clinic and to fund the medical respite program here at Daily Planet. We’re very excited to have such a dynamic individual lead our organization, and are confident she shares our mission and dedication to serving the most vulnerable in our community by delivering quality, integrated health services.

I look forward to introducing you to Beth in May.

Kind regards,

Scott Cardozo
President, Daily Planet Health Services Board of Directors
